Julias Dream streaked to a 5 ½-length maiden special weight win Sunday at Del Mar to become the first TDN Rising Star for top-three First-Crop sire Flameaway.
The 2-year-old filly, who was making her first lifetime start, shot out of the gate to put two lengths on the field in the first 100 yards. She relaxed nicely around the turn, then re-broke at the top of the stretch and drew off with authority to stop the timer in :56.97 for the five furlongs on the firm turf.
Julias Dream was a $180,000 purchased by her owner Talla Racing at this year’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by David Soblick. Julias Dream’s dam Cinnamon Girl has produced 10 winners from 11 starters and is a half-sister to Grade 1 performer Abby Girl.
Flameaway now has eight individual winners, including stakes winner Dreamfyre, and ranks third on the First-Crop list with $419,170 in progeny earnings.
